DRI 2026: Back to the Fort

September 16, 2026

URBAN DOWNHILL AT KLAPPERKOP

We’re heading back to Fort Klapperkop! After a legendary event here in 2024, I’ve been keen to bring something different to the Fort. This time, we’re taking the riding inside and mixing things up with some Urban Downhill. As far as I know, this is a first for South Africa.

Riders will be starting inside the actual fort, making their way downstairs, through narrow concrete pathways, then tying back into the OG Fort downhill line. Tackling a course that brings a whole new feel to the riding.

It’s not your typical downhill trail, and that’s exactly why I’m excited about it.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF RIDE

Fort Klapperkop is already a pretty special place. You’ve got the history, the old structures, and some incredible views over Pretoria. I’ve put together a progressive course that’s about having fun, finding your lines, and getting from the start to the finish. You can push yourself, chase a fast time, or simply enjoy riding somewhere a little different.

You don’t need to be the fastest rider out there. Just come prepared to ride, have a good time, and make somememories.

TWO DAYS OF RIDING

You’ll have two days of shuttles and timed runs, with a maximum of three race runs per day.

That’s six runs in total, but you can do as many or as few as you want. Your fastest time is the one that counts.

Take a run to get familiar with the course, work out your lines, and then see what you can put down. It’s all about enjoying the ride.

COME RIDE WITH US

I’ve got the usual essentials covered, with shuttles, medics, a tech zone, and food and drinks available on site.

All bikes are welcome, and remember: No helmet, no ride.

I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone thinks of the course. It’s something new, it’s a little different, and I reckon it’s going to be a bloody good weekend.

So, bring your bike, bring your mates, and come experience Fort Klapperkop in a way you haven’t before.

See ya there.
